India: Pumps run short on fuel over fear of price cut

Unexpected fuel shortage hit most petrol pumps in the State on Tuesday, with pump operators stocking limited fuel supplies for fear of a price cut.
Speaking to Herald, Indian Oil Corporation Deputy Sales Manager S L Bangara said most petrol pump operators are running business on a daily basis to ensure that whatever stock was taken in the morning, it would get over within the next two days.

Pakistan: Furnace oil shortage worsens

The Attock Refinery Limited has refused to honour the request of the government seeking resumption of supply of furnace oil to Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) made in view of deepening power crisis in the country.

"Yes, we have rejected the request of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources seeking the restoration of furnace oil sticking to our stance that unless and until Pakistan State Oil clears its dues, the refinery will not restore the fuel supply chain," said Mohammad Adil Khattak, MD Attock Refinery Limited.

Philippines: Taxi group fears hike in auto-LPG prices

With the problems of supply of liquefied petroleum gas plaguing in the country, a taxi operators group today expressed fear that big oil companies would try to jack up prices of LPG in the following months.

Bong Suntay, head of the Philippine National Taxi Operators Association, said the artificial shortage of auto-LPG supply could trigger high prices of the fuel by February and March.

Philippines: DOE’s probe on LPG shortage focuses on refillers

The Department of Energy is zeroing in on refillers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as it continues its probe on the major causes of the tight supply of the commodity in recent weeks.

Zenaida Monsada, head of the energy department's oil industry management bureau, said Tuesday authorities are verifying information that these refillers are hoarding LPG.

Tanzania: Sumbawanga in acute shortage of petrol

Sumbawanga Municipality in Rukwa Region has been going without petrol for the last two days. A random survey conducted here found that all six filling stations had no gasoline. The commodity was also scarce in the streets.

"Motorists and other consumers have been looking for the commodity from vendors in the streets, but they as well have got no stock at all," said one taxi driver. Filling station workers declined to comment on the matter, on grounds that they were not spokespersons.

USA (Tennessee): AAA: 85% of Nashville-area stations out of gas

The gasoline shortage that has plagued Middle Tennessee for more than a week, and which took a turn for the worse Friday, will probably persist for at least several days, state and industry officials said.

At least 85 percent of the stations in the Nashville area were without gasoline Friday morning, AAA Auto Club South estimated, and those that had it were running out quickly, despite regular deliveries to the region.
