BOCCIM engages BPC over power outages

The power outages that have engulfed the country in the past week have negatively affected business bottom line, forcing the business community to speak out. In fact, the power outages have caused inconvenience and in some instances brought the daily operations for both SMME’s and large corporations to a halt.

According to a press release BOCCIM’s CEO, Maria Machailo Ellis, they have engaged the Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) over this situation and the latter explained that among its challenges was the recent heat wave which has put pressure on power supply and has affected the region. Also, explained BPC, unplanned maintenance by at South Africa’s power supply, which Botswana and most of the region rely on, Eskom, has left Botswana in the dark.
