President Bengino S. Aquino III told Cebu reporters this morning that although his administration is pushing for renewable sources of energy, this is not possible in the immediate future and that balance is essential in solving the problem of power shortage. The President spoke with members of the local media during an informal press conference at the KEPCO SPC power plant site.

The President made the statement when asked if he was aware of the opposition voiced out by environmental groups, which are calling for a stop to operations of the coal-fired power plant that the President just inaugurated in Naga City, Cebu.
