Armed tribesmen attacked electricity circuits in the Yemen's main power station in northeast Marib province on Sunday, triggering a blackout in major provinces, including the capital Sanaa, a local official said.

"The attack targeted two electrical circuits, leaving the main power station stand idle," the official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
