GM Ramos explains hike in hours of blackouts

20:43 Apr 21 2011 Philippines

Description
Zamboanga City Electric Cooperative (Zamcelco) General Manager Reinerio Ramos explained yesterday why there was an immediate increase in the number of hours blackout per Zamcelco feeder.

In an earlier interview, Ramos said the notice of the NGCP was for a one hour rotational blackout only. But the supply of electricity from the source dropped, forcing Zamcelco to implement an eight hour rotational blackout per feeder. “This is inevitable as the main problem comes from the National Power Corporation (NPC) which is the supplier of power. Pulangi plant in Bukidnon suffered a cracked due to the strong pressure of water. They are now trying to repair possible leaking, as a result, they shut down the plant,” Ramos said.
