Energy Crisis Turns Lights Off in Nepal

21:44 Apr 13 2011 Nepal

Description
An energy crisis in Nepal has left the country in the dark.

Residents in Nepal have experienced 14-hour power cuts consistently due to overworked and antiquated plants. The country typically generates 643 megawatts of electricity per year but the country has not produced enough to meet a growing demand.

"If we don't immediately address the energy crisis, the country will be pushed into a horrible situation," Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari told AFP.
