Li Zengxia's fish are dead and his crops are dying. The stream that was once his lifeline is gone, diverted 155 miles to Beijing to create a picture-perfect green setting for the 2008 Summer Games.
"This is a small thing for individuals," Li explained. "We should make contributions to the country. I understand -- we are a socialist family."

India: Jain admits shortage of coal for power generation in AP
Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGENCO) Managing Director, Mr Ajay Jain has admitted to serious shortage of coal for power generation in the state.
He said coal stocks were running perilously low and there was a need to build up stocks of the fuel.

UAE: Emirate’s demand for power to double in next five years
Demand for electricity will double in the emirate of Abu Dhabi over the next five years, while water demand will surge 43 per cent, according to a new forecast from Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (Adwea).
The latest Adwea projections, published Saturday by WAM, the official UAE news agency, suggest the largest UAE emirate will be under intense pressure to keep its power and water development projects on track, and that it could have less excess electricity available to export to other needy emirates.
Venezuela: No hay gasolina en Chorona
Since last Sunday the population of coastal Chorona, in Aragua state, have found no gasoline. The fuel shortage is affecting an average of five hundred boats and traders in the area, as well as tourists who stay in this holiday season area.
