India: Diesel shortage to be probed, says Deora
Petroleum Minister Murli Deora convened a meeting of state-owned oil companies for next week to discuss the shortage of diesel in certain parts of the country.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Deora admitted there were reports of diesel shortage from western states, especially Maharashtra.

Kenya: Raila - Energy shortfall has grown into a national crisis
The Government admitted for the first time that Kenya is in the middle of a worsening energy crisis.
Speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday, Prime Minister Raila Odinga also asked the private sector to join the search for alternative power solutions to ensure the crisis does not endanger implementation of Vision 2030, the Government’s national development plan. "Energy is in fact our greatest bottlenecks, with grossly inadequate supply for the current demand, leave alone for the business growth we pan," he said in Nairobi.
Nigeria: Ateke Claims Damaging Alakiri Gas Supply Line
Wanted leader of the Niger Delta Vigilante Movement(NDVM), Mr Ateke Tom, yesterday said militants had damaged a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) gas pipeline transferring gas from the Alakiri gas station to Port Harcourt Refinery.
The attack, allegedly carried out by NDVM and Niger Delta Patriotic Force, according to a statement from spokesman of the two groups, Tamunokuro Ebitari, was to demonstrate that they can go below sea level to wreak havoc, if provoked.
Nigeria: No respite in sight as kerosene scarcity bites harder
FOR a long time, many Nigerians across the country have been groaning under the severe scarcity of kerosene; a product commonly used for cooking.
Shortage of the product, which reared its ugly head for the first time several years ago, seemed to have reached its climax recently when a litre sold for between N100 and N150 in several parts of the country.
Investigations by Vanguard Features (VF) last week showed that most petrol stations within the Lagos metropolis had not taken delivery of the product for years.
Pakistan: Rain brings life to a halt

One of the only offices that continued to operate on schedule was the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO); they remained prompt in shutting off electricity for load shedding.
Peru: Garcia says Peru not in midst of an energy crisis
Peruvian President Alan Garcia worked to calm concerns about the country's growing, if temporary, energy shortage on Wednesday, saying Peru is not in the midst of a crisis.
In the last two weeks, Peru has experienced two blackouts as spiking demand, a shortage of rains and poor infrastructure have combined to crimp power supplies. Garcia has met with energy industry leaders to discuss the problem.
